Ewing House: This facility includes 5 one-bedroom apartments, 15 efficiency apartments and 2
special needs rooms. This facility tends to have the longest waiting list. Please contact the front

Revlon Apartments: These apartments are designed to accommodate low-income individuals and
families, with 20 one-bedroom apartments and 7 two-bedroom apartments. Please contact the front

Spencer Gardens: These facilities provide 12 apartments for low-income families affected by
HIV/AIDS. Please contact the front desk if there are questions about the intake process.

Mission: Agape provides transitional housing and support services to single women and single
women with children who are homeless due to domestic violence or sex trafficking. The agency
seeks to empower single women, mothers and their children living in Collin County in overcoming
crisis and achieving self-sufficiency.
Services Offered: Agape offered transitional housing, counseling, life skills, workforce training,

No history of substance abuse or be at least 12 months sober

Intake: Guests are required to meet with an intake specialist when they first arrive and will help
you with resources, information, and a Bridge ID for access to all their campuses. Night shelter
intake begins at 6pm. Daytime services are from 7am to 6pm. An onsite kennel is available for
guests with dogs.

Mission: Brighter Tomorrows provides emergency shelter and transitional housing in a two-year
program to help survivors of domestic violence and sexual violence by establishing financial
stability. Life skills classes, budget planning, parenting classes, support groups and individual
counseling services are offered in an effort to advance the goal of moving residents into permanent

Mission: Bridges is a faith-based organization. We consider ourselves as a home rather than a
shelter. This 5-bedroom transitional housing program serves pregnant and parenting women
experiencing homelessness ages 18-24 only.
Services Offered: Emergency shelter and transitional housing for homeless women and
their minor children under age 6, meals, access to childcare, diaper pantry, parenting classes,
job assistance, life skills and spiritual classes.
Eligibility:
Must be a woman 18 years+ pregnant or with children up to 6 years of age
Willing and able to work or attend school
No active addictions (sober for at least 6 months)
No convictions for violent crimes
No level of chronic mental illness that may impede participation in the program

Eligibility Requirements: valid picture ID for all adults, proof of need- at risk or literal homeless;
no income required but must be willing to work/volunteer; must participate in faith based 12 step
sponsorship and substance abuse counseling; must abide by house rules; school aged children must
be enrolled in school; male and females cannot be housed together regardless of relationship.
Cannot accept clients with sex offense convictions or on mood altering medications.
Intake: Please fill out the pre-screening application form on their website for your chosen program
to determine eligibility.

CITY HOUSE

Mission: City House aims to support, empower and protect children and young adults who are
experiencing homelessness, abuse, or neglect.
Services: City House offers a transitional home, youth emergency shelter, street outreach,
counseling and a safe place for victims.
Transitional Living: Applicants must be 18-21, program consists of three homes located in
Collin County. Please see application on their website for intake and requirements/
Emergency Shelter: My Friend’s House provides 24hr residential care in partnership with
Child Protective Services: For youth up to 17 years old. Runaway and Homeless Youth are
granted a stay of up to 21 days at this shelter, often referred through school districts, the
juvenile court system, or word of mouth. Please call for details.
Street Outreach; Offers hygiene products, a place to do laundry, showers, counseling, job
search assistance and food from 10am-3pm on weekdays to young adults up to 22 years old.
Counseling: Short term counseling is available to families and individual youths.

Mission: Originally a home for children in foster care, their program also provides stable, affordable
and safe housing and supportive services to single-parent families who are employed but are
outpaced by the rising cost of living.
Services: Cumberland Services offers a Family Residential Program that aims to equip and
empower families to be self-reliant.
Eligibility:
Must be at or below 80% of the HUD income limits for their family size.
Must be employed and able to pay the rent as structured for the program (30% monthly
income allotted for rent, increases as program goes on)
Must have a reliable transportation plan for going to work/school/daycare
Must have full custody of at least 1 child
Must NOT have a partner that resides with them
Must pass a criminal background check (No violent crimes or other crimes deemed a safety
risk to the campus)
Must pass a drug test
Must be willing and able to participate in program requirements

DALLAS HOPE CHARITIES

Mission: Dallas Hope Charities is dedicated to fulfilling their mission of providing food, shelter, and
services that instill dignity, stability, and hope for those in their communities.
Services: The Dallas Hope Center is a transitional shelter for LGBTQ+ youth ages 18 to 24 that
provides safety and stability. Coaching, life skills training, healthcare and mental healthcare are
provided for those entering the shelter. Alongside the shelter, Worthy Bags, filled with supplies for
those who may be homeless, are also distributed.
Eligibility/Intake: The Dallas Hope Center caters to LGBTQ+ youth ages 18 to 24. Please visit their
shelter intake form on their website to apply for a space as they currently have a wait list.

Mission: The Dallas Housing Authority (DHA) has a simple mission - to provide qualified low-
income families with safe and affordable housing. DHA receive federal funds from the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to manage their income based Public
Housing and Voucher Choice Program. DHA owns and operates 31 properties in their public
housing program offering on site case management and support services. Qualified tenants pay 30
percent of their income for rent. Unfortunately, the demand for affordable housing is greater than
the supply which means that DHA has to generate waitlist for their public housing units.
Voucher Programs
The Housing Choice Voucher (formerly Section 8) is a housing assistance program that empowers
and allows the individual voucher holder to choose where he or she resides. Dallas Housing
Authority (DHA) pays a portion of the participant’s rent directly to a private landlord. The program
participants pay the balance of the rent directly to the private landlord.
WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS?
Have an annual income at the time of admission that does not exceed the HUD income limits
Pass a criminal background screening
Provide acceptable documentation of Social Security numbers for all family members except
those who do not contest their immigration status
Cannot owe money to DHA or any other housing authority in connection with any federal
housing program
Met the applicant selection criteria
Are not already adequately housed in any public housing authority-owned dwelling unit
ENROLLMENT
DHA has CLOSED the Housing Choice Voucher Program to new applicants until further notice. DHA
will publicly announce when it’s accepting applications during an open enrollment period.

Services offered: This is a safe, sober transitional living program that provides a home for
individuals dealing with substance abuse issues. The facility accommodates up to 53 men and 14
women in a roommate situation. Residents are required to maintain their sobriety while working to
achieve permanent independent living. Food, clothing, and toiletries are provided during the client’s
first month in the program, with a cafeteria on site. Rent is $70/week during the first month and
increases to $98/week after that. Residents receiving SSI or Veteran compensation benefits are
required to pay their entire monthly rent up front.
***No rent is required at initial intake and will accept clients with no income on a case-by-
case basis.
Requirements:
Ability to pass a UA/Breathalyzer
Ability to pay rent
Attend weekly house meetings, as well as seven AA/NA meetings per week
Actively look for work between 9 am and 2 pm or volunteer in the community (if disabled)
Exclusions:
Individuals with sex offenses
Individuals with arson convictions
Individuals who have been charged with selling drugs in a school zone

Mission: Dallas Life is a nonprofit, faith-based emergency shelter serving individuals and families
experiencing homelessness in North Texas. Their primary goal is to help those in crisis to
overcome their addiction and homeless circumstances in meeting their basic needs like food,
clothing and shelter, providing recovery services, medical attention and spiritual guidance.
Services Offered: Emergency shelter for homeless men, women and children (dorms for singles,
private rooms for married couples and families); meals; clothing (Fridays only); recovery program;
job placement program; dental and medical clinic; clothing and educational services
Clients Must Bring: Two forms of ID (picture ID & SS card); limit 2 pieces of luggage weighing 25
pounds or less; children must have birth certificate, SS card and immunization records; married
couples must have a valid marriage license to be together
Limits/Exclusions:
Shelter is free for the first 5 nights and then resident pay $15 for each
subsequent night in the Pay-To-Stay Program. Children always stay for free
10-Month Homeless No More Program is a four phase program that provides
clients with life skills and job seeking guidance.
First time residents receive 3 free nights
A limited number of clients may stay free up to 30 days if they work at the center or join a
faith-based drug/alcohol program requiring a 10-month commitment and desire to change.
Shelter will not accept individuals with violent criminal or sexual convictions, including
heinous crimes (arson, injury to a child) or protective orders. Dallas Life will not accept men
on parole

Mission: Elevate North Texas’ mission is to fill in the gap of youth experiencing homelessness with
emergency shelter. We provide a safe, affirming environment through access to immediate shelter
and reunification with family, when possible.
Services Offered: Providing housing in the form of host homes and hotel stays to youths 18-24 who
are experiencing homelessness. Provides case managers to help guide clients through finding
suitable housing. Also assists with family reunification and mediation in a safe space if that option is
still possible.
Eligibility/Limits: Must be between 18 and 24 years old, limit a stay of up to four months.

Mission: Family Gateway classifies as a homeless shelter serving families with children who are
currently experiencing homelessness; the agency aims to assist families in crisis and to keep
families together, unlike traditional emergency shelters. The agency also works collaboratively
with Dallas Housing Authority and Rapid Rehousing Continuum of Care partners to end
homelessness and assist the families served in the emergency shelter component in securing
permanent, stable housing.
Services Offered: Short term and transitional housing for homeless families with children;
counseling; referrals; training programs in parenting, budgeting, nutrition, and special children’s
programs; job search assistance
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older
Must be currently homeless or facing homelessness within the next 72 hours
Must have at least one child within your care and custody that is under the age of 18
Must currently reside or previously resided in Dallas or Collin county

crisis. If we are assisting another person in need, please leave a message or complete our online
help form by clicking the button below. Either of these actions will trigger our team’s response.
If you are in an emergency situation (you have no shelter tonight and no friends/family with
whom you can stay), come directly to Family Gateway at 711 S. St. Paul Street for emergency
assistance. If our shelter is full, we will assist you with locating other available emergency shelter
space.

Mission: This program has 30 private rooms for homeless families. It is open to families in which all
adults are able to work. This is not a Housing First program, therefore the families who enter Phase

Residents are required to maintain their sobriety while working to achieve permanent independent

Mission: Minnie’s Food Pantry provides free food to low-income families, single parents, senior

HOPWA Permanent Housing Placement (PHP)
Can assist individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS with paying security deposits, the first
month’s rent and utility connection; Assistance is only for clients moving to a new place because
they are homeless, living with family or friends or being compelled to move; the apartment’s
leasing office must be willing to register as a City of Dallas as a vendor; The program cannot pay to
place a client in housing that is too large or too small for the number of occupants-. The general
guidelines are apartment size must match the household size; apartment cannot be an efficiency
unit, have a den or study in it; the goal is to help clients find and maintain permanent housing
therefor the apartment has to be affordable- affordable is defined as “the rent does not exceed
60% of the client’s income; funding is limited and based on first-come, first served basis.

finding an eligible housing unit.

Mission: The Williams Hope Project aims to help young single mothers by improving their quality

Mission: Unfortunately, many victims of domestic violence are unable to flee to safety due to lack
of transportation, Families to Freedom attempts to solve this problem by providing those fleeing
with a safe method of transportation.
Services Offered: Assists those who are fleeing domestic violence by providing them with a ride
to the shelter, driving them to a family members home in another state, giving them a fuel card to
assist as they make the journey themselves, or by giving clients a bus or train pass to escape to
family that lives farther away.

Mission: The Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance is a non-profit organization leading the
development of an effective homeless response system that will make the experience of
homelessness in Dallas and Collin Counties rare, brief, and non-recurring.
Action: Under the national strategic plan to end homelessness, commissioned by Congress and the
President, Opening Doors, the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance is charged with transforming
homeless services into a crisis response system that prevents homelessness and rapidly returns
people who experience homelessness to stable housing.

Services Offered: provides hot, nutritious, prepared meals five days a week delivered to
Dallas County residents who are unable to prepare meals for themselves due to illness,
advanced age or disability
Eligibility Requirements: be over the age of 60 or disabled; be unable to drive or leave
your home without assistance; limited financial resources; live in Dallas County. If clients
would like to self pay, it is $6.00 per meal. Delivered Mon-Fri between 10:30am and 1:30pm.

Services Offered: A national nonprofit that provides pet food and veterinary services to the pets
of people experiencing homelessness. They also have special programs for homeless veterans.
Application: Resources are listed on the website and can be searched for by area, including local
homeless shelter that board pets. Case managers for emergency veterinary care are available to
take new cases Mon-Fri 9am-3pm.

Mission: RTNT is a small nonprofit that assists vulnerable populations with necessary home
repairs to ensure they are living in safe, habitable homes.
Services: RTNT addresses hazards affecting the safety, health, and/or accessibility of homes
owned by low-income homeowners free of charge for qualifying homeowners.
Eligibility: Must be fall under one or more categories:
Be a senior aged 60 or older.
Be an honorably discharged veteran or surviving spouse of an honorably discharged
veteran.
Be disabled and receiving SSDI or have a physician’s statement.
Be a family with dependent children residing in the home.
And must meet ALL of these qualifications:
1. Be living on a very low income according to HUD guidelines
2. Own a single-family home with no liens on the property
3. Live in the home
4. Be within our service area (Dallas, Collin, Denton, Tarrant, and Rockwall counties)
5. Be current with real estate taxes or have a written agreement for all delinquent real estate
taxes
6. Commit to joining our volunteers to the best of your ability as we work on your home

member and documentation of disability or veteran status if applicable are required.
