Question
Response
1.
What does NTA
stands for?
NTA stands for the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is
established by Ministry of Education, MoE (Earlier known as
Ministry of Human Resource Development-MHRD) as an
independent/ autonomous, self-reliant and self-sustained premier
testing organization.
2.
What is CUET (UG)
2024?
CUET (UG) 2024 stands for Common University Entrance Test
(UG) - 2024.
CUET (UG) 2024 provides a single window opportunity to
students to seek admission in any of the Central Universities
(CUs), and other participating universities (State Universities,
Autonomous Institution, Private University, deemed University)
across the country, for the academic session 2024-25.
CUET (UG) 2024 provides a common platform and equal
opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those
from rural and other remote areas and help establish better connect
with the Universities.
It is a single entrance test for admission to Central Universities
and other participating universities (State Universities,
Autonomous Institution, Private University, deemed University)
which will be admitting the candidates to their UG courses for the
academic year 2024-25 based on the NTA Score secured by them
in this test.
3.
How is CUET (UG)
2024 going to be
helpful to a student
The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) 2024 will
be helpful to a student in the following ways: -
i. In the past, students used to be under stress to secure more than
95% marks in Class 12 Board Examination to get admission in the
University of their Choice. With the introduction of CUET (UG)
2024, the stress on them for securing very high marks in the one
and only Board Examination stands reduced.
ii.
iii. Marks given by different Boards vary widely because of the
typology of questions and the scoring pattern. These things will
now be standardised under CUET (UG) - 2024.
iv.
v. The question paper pattern in CUET (UG) 2024 will be objective
type comprising Multiple Choice Questions and hence evaluation
will be objective. In this manner, subjectivity in evaluation of the
descriptive type of papers in the traditional Class 12 exams of
different Boards will not handicap the candidates in getting
admission to the University of their Choice.
vi. CUET (UG) 2024 will be held in the Hybrid Mode (Computer-
Based Test/Pen & Paper) where result processing will be done
through technology with no human intervention.

Section-II Overview about the rationale of CUET (UG) -2024
S. No.
Question
Response
vii. CUET (UG) 2024 will be based on Class 12 syllabus and hence
candidates of Class 12 need not prepare for it separately.
viii.
ix. In CUET (UG) 2024, students have a wide range of options-i.e.
29 subjects, 33 Languages and General Test to choose from. They
can select the Subject/Language/General Test of their choice, as
per the requirements of the University where admission is sought.
Drawing from the National Education Policy (NEP), the CUET
(UG)- 2024 will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese,
Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi,
Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
4.
How will The
Common University
Entrance Test CUET
(UG) 2024 address
the diversity of the
students across the
country?
The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) 2024 will
provide a common platform and equal opportunity across the
country especially to those students coming from rural and urban
areas including candidates from the three National Boards CBSE,
ICSE and NIOS.
In CUET (UG) - 2024, students have a wide range of options-i.e.

can select the Subject/Language/General Test of their choice, as
per the requirements of the University where admission is sought.
They can also choose any of the 13 languages specified therein as
medium of their test.
5.
I secured 99% marks
in Class 12 but did not
get admission in the
desired university.
In the past, candidates had this grievance that though they scored
99% in Class 12, they could not get admission in the Universities
of their choice. This was basically because of varied typology of
questions and scoring pattern across different Boards in the
country.
These things will now get standardized with the introduction of
CUET (UG) - 2024.
6.
How will I prepare for
both CUET (UG)
2024 and the Board
Examinations?
The syllabus for the subject/domain tests of CUET (UG) 2024
will be based on Class 12 so that there is no pressure on the
candidates to prepare for both the exams.
The effort that would be required to do well at CUET (UG) 2024
will also help candidates to prepare well for their Board
Examinations. Thereby, it would strengthen their learning.

The National Education Policy has clearly elucidated that the
entrance to Higher Education should be through Common
Entrance Test at the national level so that there is uniform standard
of bench marking of candidates.
8.
Will the Board Exam
become redundant
now?
The basic eligibility criterion for entrance into Universities
remains unchanged which is that a candidate must have passed the
Class 12 examination from any recognized Board or equivalent.
In fact, marks in grade 12 for eligibility will vary across programs
and Universities.
Moreover, Board examination is an Achievement test whereas
CUET (UG) 2024 is a Selection Test.
Hence, Board Exams at Class 12 level are not likely to become
redundant.
The basic eligibility criteria is a key factor for admission to all
University and other examinations such as JEE and NEET at the
National Level.
The principles for University Entrance Exams require a common
test. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will work to offer a
high-quality Common Aptitude Test, as well as specialized
common subject exams in the sciences, humanities, languages,
arts and vocational subjects. These exams will test conceptual
understanding and the ability to apply knowledge and shall aim to
eliminate the need for taking coaching for these exams. Students
will be able to choose the subjects for taking the test, and each
university will be able to see each student’s individual subject
portfolio and admit students into their programmes based on
individual interests and talents.
9.
How does CUET (UG)
2024 provide more
flexibility and options
for me to choose from?
In CUET (UG) - 2024, a candidate may take a maximum of 06
subjects from 63 Subjects/Languages.

added.

provides a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates
across the country, especially those from North-East and from
rural and other remote areas and help establish better connect with
the Universities. It will test conceptual understanding and the

taking coaching for these exams.
