15.Multidisciplinary / interdisciplinary
Our college provides 21 programs in the arts, sciences, and commerce
(13 UG, 6 PG, and 2 Ph.D.). Students from lower socioeconomic levels
of society get admitted to the semi-rural institution. The
institution's goal is to provide students with the best education
possible by using highly qualified professors who are authorities in
their fields. Special attention is given to students' different
skills in sports and the arts so they can grow and be recognized.
The NCC and NSS groups at the institution are doing a fantastic task
of shaping the students into responsible citizens of our nation. The
university curriculum is strictly followed to follow the academic
courses. In the sixth semester, UG Departments offer one open
course. Except for those enrolled in the parent department, all
students at the institution are eligible to enroll in the open
Page 4/59 29-06-2024 06:40:10
Annual Quality Assurance Report of SREE KRISHNA COLLEGE
course. The students will benefit from this as they attempt to
comprehend a different study area.
16.Academic bank of credits (ABC):
Through a system known as an Academic Bank of Credits (ABC),
students can earn, accumulate, and transfer academic credits earned
via a range of learning activities in institutions. Unlike the
conventional model, which only permits credits to be earned through
courses taken at a single school, an ABC system enables students to
earn credits from a number of sources. As an affiliated institution
of the University of Calicut, the college closely follows the
University's curricular norms. Courses in environmental studies,
gender equality, human rights, and disaster management are mandatory
for undergraduate students. For those who earn these credits through
online courses like SWAYAM, MOOC, etc., the aforementioned courses
are not necessary.
17.Skill development:
Educational institutions must include skill development courses to
ensure that students are suitably prepared for the demands of the
modern workforce. Employers may assist students in discovering their
areas of interest and talent by offering a diverse range of skill
development packages. Students have several opportunities for
experiential learning when practical training, internships, and real-
world projects are included into academic curricula. Furthermore, by
recognising and certifying students for completing skill development
courses, employers may increase their employability and career
prospects. They attempted to assist students in a number of ways,
including assisting them in acclimating to new learning settings and
giving them the exposure they needed to assist in making career
plans. The ED club at our campus sponsored a number of student
lectures and seminars. The theme of "Exploring Entrepreneurial
Landscape" was the focus of one such seminar, which stressed the
need to educate learners to think like entrepreneurs.
18.Appropriate integration of Indian Knowledge system (teaching in Indian Language, culture,
using online course)
Indian knowledge systems-based online courses provide a unique
opportunity to preserve and develop traditional expertise. When
presented in Indian languages, students may learn in a relaxed
linguistic environment and engage more completely with their
cultural heritage. Incorporating Indian culture into the curriculum
strengthens students' sense of pride and belonging, therefore
strengthening their cultural identity. Cooperation with academics
and professionals from a variety of fields ensures the quality and
Page 5/59 29-06-2024 06:40:10
Annual Quality Assurance Report of SREE KRISHNA COLLEGE
accuracy of the material presented. To enable a large number of
individuals to engage, our language departments—especially the
Sanskrit department—offered certificate courses.
19.Focus on Outcome based education (OBE):Focus on Outcome based education (OBE):
OBE focuses on preparing students for real-world applications and
achievement outside of the classroom by providing them with the
tools they need for success in their future undertakings. Students
participated in quality circle (peer group) learning, remedial
coaching, and frequent evaluations all year long. We urged students
to engage with professionals from a range of fields as resource
people. To make sure the objectives were fulfilled, a survey on
student satisfaction was conducted. Outlining the precise content
that students should study is a crucial aspect of outcome-based
education (OBE).
20.Distance education/online education:
Geographical obstacles are eliminated with online learning, allowing
students to access course materials and participate in classes from
any place with an internet connection, offering unparalleled
accessibility. Because of its flexible scheduling options, it
enables students to balance their academic commitments with those of
their jobs or families. The teachers gave their students access to
online materials in addition to their in-class lectures. For
students, a wide range of pertinent topics were covered in webinars.
The ICT classrooms were often utilised by both teachers and
students. A request was made to management for more ICT classes.

6.3.5 - Institutions Performance Appraisal System for teaching and non- teaching staff
Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur has a performance appraisal system
Page 45/59 29-06-2024 06:40:11
Annual Quality Assurance Report of SREE KRISHNA COLLEGE
for Teaching and Non-Teaching staff every year as in CAS promotion
format. All academic staff in the College fall in one of the three
categories, which they have opted to be in: Teacher-Administrator,
Teacher-Researcher, or Teacher- Mentor. All categories have
teaching load, although the Teacher- Administrators have, in
general, 2/3rds of the teaching load ofthe other two categories.
All teachers are first assessed on their teaching performance,
primarily based on the anonymous student feedback taken per
semester . Depending on the category, they are also assessed
against the expected output in their category. The academic staff
concerned first fills a self-assessment form, to which his/her
supervisor adds their remarks after having had a one-on-one with
them.A similar process is followed for both non-teaching and
technical staff, but there is greater subjectivity in assessments
in their case as unlike teaching feedback and research output,
many of the contributions of the non-teaching and technical staff
are difficult to quantify. Therefore, the supervisor plays a
bigger role in the appraisal process.A structured feedback system
is encouraged by IQAC for the betterment of teaching leaning
process.
