For each grade level we have listed 5 suggested activities, including an end product. These are very brief descriptions of the activities.
Please refer to the website listed for your grade level for a more thorough understanding of the activities.

Kindergarten
What Pet Should I Get?

1. Watch YouTube read aloud of Dr.
Seuss’ What Pet Should I Get?
2. Choose an animal you’d like to
have as a pet. Make a T chart
detailing both good and bad things
about having this animal as a pet
3. Choose an animal and research
what it needs to survive, strengths
and weaknesses as a pet, what it eats,
its natural habitat, cost of caring for
this pet, etc. Would it make a good
pet?
4. Create a riddle about your animal
based on your research.
Example:
I have fur and 4 legs.
I am not a reptile.
I like to wag my tail.
I need walks outside and water to
drink.
What am I?
5. Invent a new animal or pet. Create
it with materials found in your home.
Give it a name, and explain what it
would eat, where it would live, and
how big it would be.

1. Watch YouTube read aloud of
That’s Good, That’s Bad by Margery
Cuyler. Choose 5 items from your
room. Make a T-chart telling
something good and bad about each
item.
2. Research myths, fairy tales and
fables. Create a chart comparing and
contrasting each genre.
3. Choose one fairy take with which
you are familiar and re-write the
ending.
4. Choose a different fairy tale with
which you are familiar and re-write it
from the point of view of different
characters.
5. Create a puppet (sock, paper bag,
or other type) to retell your new fairy
tale.

Good Citizenship

1. Watch YouTube read aloud of
Being a Good Citizen by Mary Small.
Create a bubble graphic organizer
with citizenship in the middle and add
other word that relate to the topic
around it.
2, Watch the video “Communities We
Belong To” on Kids Academy. Create
5 concentric circles of increasing size.
Add one title on each circle of
different communities you belong to
and one way you can contribute to
each community.
3. Choose a community helper to
research. Draw a picture of, and write
a letter to, one of these community
helpers in our town. Be sure to thank
them for their service.
4. Research what it means to be a
“Good Digital Citizen”. Create a
graphic showing what a good digital
citizen does, and does not, do.
5. Select a topic related to digital
citizenship. Research that topic and
create a PowerPoint with 3-5 slides,
including pictures, text and
information. Be sure to include
sources used for documentation on
final slide. Topics include online
privacy, checking accuracy with
online information, digital footprints
and creating personal boundaries for
online use.

1. Interview the people in your home.
What are their favorite toys? Create a
chart to collect and organize their
answers.
2. Research three games from your
Family Favorite Toy chart.
3. Collect information as to when and
where your three favorite toys were
created.
4. Create a timeline using the
information you collected in Activity
3.
5. Create your own game. Include an
objective (what’s the point of the
game), instructions (how to play the
game), a minimum of three rules, and
how to win the game.
Build the game using recycle
materials and/or items you have at
home.
