What Should I Bring?
After receiving your housing assignment, you will want to contact your room/suitemate(s) (if applicable) to discuss what you plan to
bring.
Your residence hall room will soon become your “home away from home” and we want you to bring items you will need as well as those
that will help make you comfortable while living on-campus. Below is a list of suggested items to help you as your pack.
Healthy & Clean
Cleaning supplies (i.e., sanitizing wipes, broom, dustpan)
Face masks
First aid kit
Laundry supplies (hamper/basket, detergent, hangers, iron/ironing board)
Medication (prescribed and/or over the counter)
Hand sanitizer
Shower caddy
Shower shoes (sandals/flip flops to wear in the shower)
Small trash bags
Thermometer
Toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, shampoo, etc.)
Towels and washcloths
Umbrella/rain jacket/gear
Note: Students with semi-private bathrooms within their assignment must provide their own toilet paper. Toilet paper is provided in
community bathrooms.
For a Good Night’s Rest
Bed linens and comforter/blankets (all beds are twin extra-long)
Mattress pad
Pillows
Room Personalization & Comfort
Personal items (i.e., pictures, posters, mementos, etc.)
Dry-erase board
Area rug (Campus North, Max Palevsky, Renee Granville-Grossman, Woodlawn & Snell-Hitchcock are already carpeted)
Non-halogen desk or floor lamp
Seat cushion for desk chair
Fan (box or stand-type fans are recommended for non-air-conditioned halls: Burton Judson, Snell-Hitchcock & International

Painter’s tape for hanging items
Eating In
Coffeemaker or tea kettle (must be auto shutoff and not have exposed heating element)

Note: Students may choose to rent a microfridge unit from our approved vendor, BedLoft or bring their own refrigerator, not to exceed
4.0 cubic feet. Due to electrical current limitations, students who bring their own refrigerator cannot bring a separate microwave.
Students assigned to apartments already have a full-size refrigerator/freezer.

What’s Included in My Room?
Each student is provided a twin extra-long bed/mattress, dresser, free-standing wardrobe, or built-in closet (both have hanging rods
within), desk, desk chair, bookcase, or wall-mounted shelving. All beds can be adjusted in height, providing a maximum clearance
underneath of approximately 36”. Each bedroom is also provided with a trash can and window blinds or drapes. Additional room
furniture beyond what is listed below may be provided, depending on your residence hall and/or room type.

What Should I Leave at Home?
The following items are not permitted in any residence hall and should not be brought or shipped to campus:
× Wireless printers and routers
× Virtual assistants (i.e., Alexa, Google Home, etc.)
× Halogen lights and lamps
× Air conditioners, space heaters
× Hot plates, electric skillets, toasters, toaster ovens, air fryers, Instapots, electric grills (or similar cooking appliances
with exposed heating surfaces or elements), gas/charcoal cooking appliances
× Stand-alone microwaves (not part of microfridge unit)
× Candles, incense, fireworks
× Pets (except fish, tank must be 5 gallons or less)
× Weapons: air pellet, soft pellet, water, paintball or BB guns, swords, knives, tasers, athletic weapons, etc.
× Alcohol (even empty, decorative bottles)
× All lithium battery-powered devices (i.e., e-bikes, scooters, hoverboards, etc.)
× Drones
× Amplified musical instruments
× Upholstered furniture (i.e., beanbag chairs, futons, sofas, mattresses, gaming chairs, etc.)
× Lofting kits
× LED light strips
× Items that require wall mounting using tacks, nails, putty, or adhesive/foam tape
Note: The above list is not all inclusive and additional items can be added at any time. If you have a question about whether an
