Hey all!
Has anyone had experience with the Loopmasters Ocatapaks? I been thinking of buying the elektro one since they
already have a complete set and patterns you can load. Im surprised that they would sell a sample pack for such a niche
market like us.

Seems cool, but i wonder how much work it would take to just make our own sets with a standard LoopMasters pack? Or
does this save us a lot of time and teach us how you can make some useful patterns . I think for the beginner of the OT
this might be really worth it. I have yet to really compose a full track with many pattern changes and banks.

The pack is educational. To see how someone else populated the pools, the scenes they created, the trigs and locks,

Yeah I second the dubstep pack .... A really interesting take on organizing, honestly I handled things opposite. I put all
the loops in the flex slots and all the one shots in static slots. My logic being that you have more control over the elastic

Man, did this come in handy. I arrive very early to my studio and found that there was a group of aerosol artists
preparing to get busy in the gallery. Moved my wheeled setup in there and went to town on a great set using nothing but
this sample pack, getting inspired by the art and vice versa. The pack gave me the material I needed to do an
impromptu performance. 
Nice to have a bridge available when you realize that your audience isn't going to be into hearing you doing a super slow

Quote Loopmasters on Octa Pak Vol 2 - Electro:
"If you are looking for a sound collection inspired by artists including Daft Punk, Mount Kimbie, Mode Selektor, Lazer
Sword and Four Tet you are in the right place."
This might give people the impression that those artists actually made Octa Pak Vol 2 - Electro, but the truth is
disappointing, in my point of view. As a elektro lover for nearly 20 years I was at least hoping for a sensible approach to
that music genre (was I really hoping that, or did I know in advance what loopmasters is about ?!?! ). The result is
more a BIGBEATFRENCHFILTERMEGAHOUSERAVEELEKTRO type of thing. But I guess that´s what we have to
expect from loopmasters generally, which wonders me a bit why elektron choose them to do it. I think we could have had
others with a much better result, or at least I think we could, I am not too familiar with sample loop factories.
I thought it might be a good idea to check it out and see how they made use of the full potential of the OT, especially the
organization, but I can hardly deal to listen to that type of elektro the whole time and also pay nearly 25 Euro for it.
The dubstep one is not really much better  

+1, it's really a very commercial/mainstream kind of sound. however, extremely fat sounding.
In my opinion, the Electro pack deserves 3/5 stars. Perfect, polished sound quality 5/5. Educational value 2/5, very much
Elektron-Users - Elektron-Users fireboard Forum Component version: 1.0.2 Generated: 27 August, 2024, 22:53
staying on the OT's surface, e.g., scenes only assigned to master delay and master filter. Another minus for unfinished
setup. Tracks 5-7 are mostly unused, no RAM transition track or something similar. I wondered if they intended tracks 5-7
for one-shot hits/vocals etc. to be pressed manually, but if you hit button 7 you have to stop the sequencer because it's
set to max volume, containing some arbitrary loop. Seems somehow incomplete to me. If that's what it's intended to be,
they should at least have kept unused tracks completely empty without sample, fx etc. The pack shows how you might
start to build a setup. Anyways, I like beat no. 16 very much ;)
Main value of this pack is that you don't need to select and manually assign one-shot drum/synth/vox samples to flex
slots. Additionally, some drum/percussion grooves are really nice and in case I would spontaneously need to impress
some mainstream audience, those super-hyper-fat-sounding preset loops and stutter scenes would do the job. 
Main drawback, in my opinion, is the sound pack's music style. +1 to Rennwegs comment. However, that's a matter of
taste. Let's see what the next pack's styles gonna be. Maybe picking up the zombie video's hector music? ;) In terms of
educational value, Tarekith's sets/sysex files for the MD UW or the MD DJ project have far more to offer (hm, wrong
instrument). Anybody wanna prepare something like that for the OT? :) sample packs like this don't seem to be the place
to learn how to set up a finished OT set, but maybe they don't intend that either.

I only bought the electro pack, but there the compressor is not used at all? Could you describe in more detail how you
learn something from the pack? :) of course, the pack might be a good starting point to practice how to get the most out
of some pre-defined loops. for instance, I applied trigless trigs + R+T envelope settings to track 1 so that the drums can
be reduced to BD+SD via amp envelope. would be interesting to hear what people get out of the pack.

Bought the Dubstep pack yesterday. I have to say I'm very disappointed with this product.
25 pounds for a few loops and one scene? That is, to put it plainly, a complete rip - off.
I was expecting cutting edge stuff here, all you get is heavily effected and produced full loops, triggered on the first beat
of every bar. Some are sliced and triggered every beat, with linear slice locks. It's basically using the OT as a loop
playback device, without taking advantage of the crazy stuff you can do with loops. Sure, some of the stuff sounds good
in there, but you will not use it in a track, as it is instantly recognisable, and if you're supposed to switch sounds around,
what's the purpose of having someone write a simple sequence for you?
I was also very much looking forward to diving into the crazy scenes that they would surely have had designed by pro
sound designers getting paid to do that.
Instead, you get ONE scene in the pack, which activates a freeze delay on the master. Ugh, seriously the most
overdone and boring effect ever, imo, and nothing revolutionary. I'm not sure why people would even bother with freeze
delay anymore, why not use the OT for something you cannot do with any other piece of gear??
So you get one freeze delay scene, and then 6 duplicates of that scene with different delay times locked to them. WTF?
Elektron-Users - Elektron-Users fireboard Forum Component version: 1.0.2 Generated: 27 August, 2024, 22:53
You must be kidding me. That is really insulting!! I am not sure how Elektron approved of this nonsense.
I was not looking for new sounds here, I was looking for an insight into how someone else would make the most out of
this incredible tool that is the OT. I would have replaced the sounds anyways. I was hoping for some really interesting
work with the scenes, but what a let down. 
Sorry to be so negative, but I figured it would be good for people to know what they REALLY get for that price. If you
don't know how to use the freeze delay, there are free videos out there, if you want dubstep sounds, I'm sure you can
find plenty in the free library that came with the OT.
I will certainly not be buying any other products from Loopmasters :(

This is more a honest review that a negative one. Really, you are happy to pay that much for 100 loops, and a tutorial on
how to set up a freeze delay?
Have you read the description on the Loopmasters site? It suggests that the scenes are loaded with effect crazy
goodness. It's the reason I bought it, not for the sounds. I was looking forward to dissecting intricate "filter sweeps and
glitches galore".
We got nothing of the sort.
7 scenes that are the same, some loops that don't line up, etc.
I think the concept of selling samples and scenes in a project format for the OT is absolutely BRILLIANT ! I do want
more of it, but I want it to be done in a professional way. I want to hear things that only the OT can do, which is painfully
not the case here.
This is why I'm disappointed.
I am also not looking to start a flame war or derail this thread, so I will not post again, and instead will let other users
share how they feel about this product.:)

direction, whatever that means... 
Thanks for the honest review, I was curious what those packs offer regarding sound design and showing the full potential
of the OT, but it seems as it is less crazy sound design and more banging sample loops from what I have read until
someone else proves the opposite.

I tend to think that the sample packs are aimed at a specific audience. I honestly do not listen to well ANY of the artists
listed in the "Electro" Genre, I think "Electro" is Dynamix II, or Herbie Hancock, but in the present musical climate the
name has taken on an entirely different meaning... 
OK, but, I also think that getting sample packs tailored to the OT help demystify how to use it, and maybe give even
seasoned users some kind of insight they might not have previously had.
I think honesty is imperative to reviewing sample packs, but there are ways around being, mean spirited towards the
people producing them. Constructive criticism could eventually lead to a product that pleases a larger demographic of
people, straight trash talking usually doesn't lead anyone anywhere.
I paid for both as well and I feel the descriptions were inflated, inflated but not out and out untruths. Yeah I would dig
more bang for the buck, I bet we all would. 
I would just look forward to MORE of them, maybe a little bit of a better discount for people who bought em straight out,
something along those lines.

I couldn't resist to give loopmasters a second chance and hence also bought the Dubstep pack. In my opinion, this pack
is much better than the second one, more OT programming and the music style also sounds nicer to me than this
'electro' though I didn't know dubstep before. I would rate it as 4/5 stars, excellent sound quality (of course), some nice
OT programming, but still some space for improvement, e.g., regarding scenes or pre-defined kits.
In general, I like the idea of OT packs very much. Just to keep that clear. The easy exchangeability of sets is one of the
things where I like the OT much more than other gear and downloading OT-specific sample packs is just great.

Well i have not tried the dubstep just yet but i love the electro demo. This one has a lot of scenes per part. Holding A
shows trigs 1-8 as other scenes to select, not all are active but most are. All this time i thought it was one scene per part!
Next i discovered the Parts. 
Switching on the fly was a blast, the demo has about 3 of them already setup. I know all of this is in the manual but i
have a whole new understanding now with how this can be utilized with my own tracks i can bring in for a live remix.
I think its impossible for them to please everyone. There are so many ways to use this thing its mind boggling and says a
ton about Elektron. Its hard for me to believe a demo would have this many parts and samples with the scenes so i
commend LoopMasters for the effort.

Just noticed Elektron released Machunedrum soundpacks for Free? Where they any good? 
I think they would have come across better just announcing certain packs can be downloaded OT ready as an option,
rather putting them out as full Electron endorsed OT packs.... Like loopmasters ABLETON ready packs.... Though I do
realise Elektron products are a bit niche and not usually used by beginners to production.... Maybe loopmasters should
have considered they would come under heavy scrutiny offering obvious sounds to people after anything but....
Also I still can't understand why they didn't just put out some decent tutorials of how to set samples up in the way they
have on in the pack's.... I recon Elektron gear would benefit massively from in depth tutorial's on you tube or in the
manual? 
