On Existential Isolation

Reading Irvin Yalom’s wonderful book, Existential Psychotherapy.

In a section on isolation he quotes Alfred North Whitehead the English mathematician and philosopher.

Religion is what the individual does with his own solitariness … and if you are never solitary, you are never religious.”

There’s always treasure in a lonely field.
